Storing paraffin blocks and slides presents another opportunity for automated storage and saving floor space.  Trays of slides can be spaced on very tight centers allowing the storage of more than 500,000 blocks in less than 100 square feet..

Blocks may be stored in closed boxes with sequence ranges noted on the boxes and trays, or stored in open trays as shown here.

When the operator keys in the assay number for a block stored in the VLM, the tray holding the block requested is delivered to the pick window and pick lights point the operator to the block to be pulled.

Using the same storage methods for slides, more than  2,000,000 can be stored in less than 100 square feet. 

The slides are placed into small trays with dividers and may be stored in assay number sequence or randomly.  

	Slides may be requested by assay number or or medical record number. These space saving storage systems will give you confidence that you can track and find blocks and slides easily and
	present them, on demand, to a convenient and ergonomically sound workstation to be pulled by a lab worker.
Every movement of every item is tracked and can be audited. Exceptions and discrepancies are quickly identified and available to be resolved.
